Troops kill bandits kingpin, two others in Kebbi

Operatives of the Nigeria Army in fringes of Malekachi/Sangeko forest in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, in the early hours of Monday neutralised a suspected notorious bandit commande called Mainasara.

Two other bandit suspects believed to be among the gang of the bandits kingpin (Mainasara) carrying out attacks and kidnappings on communities in the areas were also neutralised by the operatives of the Nigeria Army.

Director of Security, Cabinet Office, Birnin Kebbi, AbdulRahman Usman, disclosed this to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday. 

He explained that as the troops were “on routine patrol in Sengeko forest around 0730hrs, they suddenly engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle,” adding that as the bandits tried to escape due to superior fire power of the Army,  two of them were also neutralised and their motorcycles were also recovered and destroyed in the process.

Usman observed that the successes recorded by the security operatives in the state was sequel to the proactive stance of the Governor of the State, Comrade Nasiru Idris and his unrelenting support for the security personnel operating in the state.
