The organizers of the prestigious Top Naija Music Awards have revealed the winners of its 8th edition of the awards online.
The awards platform kick-started in 2012 in Lagos with over 700 musicians in attendance and has been held every year since then.
Notable names in the industry who have won the awards in the past include Korede Bello, Reekado Banks, YCee, Dr Tee Mac Omatsola Iseli, Actor Shan George, Immaculate, Gospel Sensation, Sam Ebube, Shuleydee, amongst others.
The 8th edition had over 2000 musicians submit their works for screening and the screening committee released about 500 names for voting and then about 150 of them became finalists, from which 30 winners were selected for various categories of the awards.
The president of Top Naija Music Awards, Mr Paul Oghoghorie, said: “Top Naija Music Awards has given up and coming talented musicians the courage they need to forge ahead in the ever-competitive Nigeria music industry.
“In this post-pandemic era, there is more room for up-and-coming stars to climb the ladder of success as the industry is more open to accepting them”
The winners are; Skopy Lonky for best sound recording, Olamzy for best lyrical exploration, Dj Ruphy for best disk jockey, Mozito for best afro-pop single, Chris Don for best Afro-pop single, Davictim Cactus for the best music video, Jamika Entertainment wins best record label, Sultan is Next rated revelation, Jahboisarzzy wins Ep/Album of the year 2, Femzy for Best street single 2.
For best collaboration, Yung Bos Ft. Sultan, best RnB Single, Great Lawrence, best rap single – Kellysparks, best Hip Hop Single – Ydx, best gospel single – Julianah, Best gospel single 2 – Emmyy Stringz, best gospel music video – Comfort Benjamin, best alternative single – Blizy Dee, best song cover – Donald Silver, the best song with a message – Wadofizzy, the best music/sound engineer – Dexterity, best freestyle – Eflowzz, best commercial single – Juboil Ft. Popper.
Others are; Stanley Ihensekhien as best young entertainment entrepreneur, Kayset for the best indigenous song, Bj Computa for the best indigenous song, Real Ken wins Artiste with potential (Music Video), Raffo wins artiste with potentials (Rap Single), Macini for artiste with potentials (Dance Hall) and Ugocee is Artiste of the year.
