Coalition of anti-corruption crusade groups, led by the Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC) have commended President Bola Tinubu for taking decisive action in suspending the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, and the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa, saying the bold step showcased the president’s “unwavering commitment to tackling corruption and upholding the principles of good governance in the country”.
The coalition, including Initiative for Ethics and Value Orientation (IEVO), Northern Youths Frontiers (NYF), National Movement for Democratic Change (NMDC), among others, said they acknowledged President Tinubu’s decision to suspend the CBN Governor, Emefiele, and the EFCC Chairman, Bawa, saying it was made in the best interest of the country and her citizens, even as they added that such step signified a significant stride towards ensuring accountability, transparency, and the restoration of public trust in key institutions.
The coalition gave the commendation in a signed statement by Comrade Israel Uwejeyan of NDYC, saying that the decision taken by President Tinubu was made in the best interest of country and her citizens, even as it added that the step signified a significant stride towards ensuring accountability, transparency, and the restoration of public trust in key institutions.
This was just as the groups urged President Tinubu to ensure that investigations into the alleged misconduct leveled against the duo were conducted with the utmost thoroughness and impartiality, saying that it was of paramount importance that due process was followed, and justice served.
According to Uwejeyan, this will not only set a strong precedent but also demonstrate the president’s dedication to establishing a fair and just society.
