We have been looking at the power of motivation.
“Life motivation comes from the deep longings of the heart, and the passion to see them fulfilled urges you onward.” Proverbs 16:26 Passion.
“Let love and kindness be the motivation behind all that you do.”
1 Corinthians 16:14 Passion.
Motivation is the engine that keeps us operating in life. Motivation describes why we do something. Motivation is our “get up and up”. It is our driver that drives us into action. It is what keeps us going in the face of difficulties. It is the driving force behind our actions. Motivation is the process that initiates, guides, and maintains our behaviors.
Motivation can be intrinsic or extrinsic but the best motivation is self motivation. Self motivation is finding it in yourself to motivate yourself.
“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.” 1 Samuel 30.6
How to be self motivated:
1) Understand your purpose – your why of being alive which you will give account to God.
“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” Mark Twain
Visualize the result of your purpose. Imagine the eventual outcome of your life.
“Visualize the future and go make it happen. Think about what you’re going to achieve. Think about the impact you’re going to make. Think of the future you’re going to create.
Visualize it. Go make it happen. NOW. Because it’s never too late to be awesome.” Nelson Wang
2) Take responsibility for your life – nobody is obliged to assist you. Avoid and eliminate entitlement mentality.
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose”. Dr. Seuss
“No one is to blame for your future situation but yourself. If you want to be successful, then become “Successful.” Jaymin Shah
3) Have goals.
“As you make your to-do list for the day and week, identify those tasks that have the closest deadlines and make the most impact on your progress at work. These are the tasks you should tackle first.
Feeling lost or spread thin is not the recipe for being motivated and inspired to do your best work. Rather than trying to tackle a dozen projects at once, focus your full effort and attention on one task at a time, starting with the most important task that you need to complete that day and working your way down the list.
If you approach your workday thinking of everything that needs to be done that day, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and discouraged. If you focus only on what is truly important, though, and tackle one task at a time then you are sure to find it is a lot easier to feel motivated.” Brian Tracy

THE POWER OF MOTIVATION Part 4
We have been looking at the power of motivation.
“Life motivation comes from the deep longings of the heart, and the passion to see them fulfilled urges you onward.” Proverbs 16:26 Passion.
“Let love and kindness be the motivation behind all that you do.”
1 Corinthians 16:14 Passion.
We need to be self motivated and we have looked at three ways – Understand your purpose, take responsibility for your life and setting goals.
Today we continue.
4) Form success habits by engaging in routines, drills and disciplines e.g. punctuality, prayer time, training, personal development, daily reading etc.
5) Do self evaluation regularly-daily, weekly and as occasion demands. Self evaluation helps you to monitor your progress.
Have an accountability partner who can assist and facilitate your assessment.
“Surround yourself with people who push you, who challenge you, who make you laugh, who make you better, who make you happy.” Anonymous
6) Be resilient – bounce back quickly from setbacks. Don’t dwell on failures, disappointments – go for solutions.
“Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” Calvin Coolidge
“Don’t quit yet, the worst moments are usually followed by the most beautiful silver linings. You have to stay strong, remember to keep your head up and remain hopeful.”Unknown
7) See the end – Hebrew 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” See the future from the finish line.
8) Access the help of the Holy Spirit.
“But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.” John 14:26 Amplified.
“And consider the example that Jesus, the Anointed One, has set before us. Let his mindset become your motivation.” Philippians 2:5 Passion.
CONCLUDED.
