A commercial motorcyclist, Mr Edward Bamidele, was on Wednesday crushed to death by a water-laden tanker in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The incident occurred at the popular Alesinloye Market road, close to Iyaganku Police Area Command.
Tribune Online gathered that the accident occured around 7:30am, when the commercial motorcyclist was attempting to overtake the tanker, lost control in the process, fell and was rammed into by the tanker which led to his death.
The passenger he was conveying during the incident was said to have escaped unhurt as he jumped off the motorcycle.
Officials of the Nigerian Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) and other relevant agencies, were prompt in their response to ensure orderliness at the scene of the accident as well as traffic management.
As of the time of filing this report, the body of the deceased has been moved to the State Hospital, Adeoyo mortuary.
Meanwhile, the driver of the tanker without registration escaped from the scene before the arrival of law enforcement agents.
