Suspected honda CRV specialists arrested by Ondo police

POLICE in Ondo state has arrested three members of a gang who specialised in stealing Honda CRV jeep in the state capital, Akure, and its environs.

The suspects which included, Fadamitan Desmond, Olayemi Adeoye and Roland Imafidon were arrested with five CRV Jeeps and a Toyota Hilux.

Speaking on the arrest of the trio, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Olugbenga Adeyanju, said the three men were apprehended based on intelligence gathering about the activities of the suspects and members of their group

Adeyanju explained that one Mrs Bukola Isola reported the theft of her CRV jeep with Registration number MUS 437 EL which was parked in front of a bank in Akure.

He said detectives from the command swung into action and one of the suspects, Desmond Fadamitan, was arrested leading to the discovery and recovery of five other vehicles in their custody.

He said ” Fadamitan was arrested and with one of the handsets in the car was recovered from him and he led the investigating team to Ikare Akoko where Olayemi was also arrested. Olayemi led the team to Abuja where Roland Imafidon was arrested with other jeeps while all the vehicles had been re-registered.”

He listed the six vehicles to include, Honda CRV Jeep with Registration Number LP 173 KJA, Honda CRV Jeep with Registration No AE 704 KAK, Honda CRV Reg AH 456 KAK, Honda CRV Reg No BV 901 AGL, Honda CRV Reg No MUS 437 EL and Toyota Hilux jeep with Reg No MKA 780 PH.

Speaking of his arrest, Desmond Fadamitan, who claimed to be a Mechanic Engineering graduate from Osun State Polytechnic, Esa Oke, said he regretted his involvement in the crime.

He explained that he was introduced to the group by a friend and used to buy the cars from Roland between N300,000 and N350,000 and do some major repairs before putting it up for sale.

He said ” I know the market value is more than that but because the cars were cheap, I bought it from them and do some repairs before putting it up for sale, I really regret my action.

The executioner of the theft, Olayemi said he usually give the vehicle to Roland who will sell off the jeeps and said he received between N50,000 and N150,000 for every car sold.

He narrated how he has been operating within and outside Akure saying he bought the keys which he used in the opening of the cars in the market while he said other members of the group had run away from Ondo state.

The Police boss, however, said the three suspects would be arraigned in court at the conclusion of the investigation.
