Suspected gunmen kill vigilante commander in Anambra

Suspected gunmen on Monday, invaded Nnewi in Anambra State, killing one and injuring several others.

It was not certain if the gunmen were members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), but the attack happened on a Monday, which is considered a sit-at-home day in South East Nigeria.

A source said the gunmen invaded the city, and attacked members of the local vigilante, killing one of them one of them who was simply identified as ‘commander’.

“The windscreen of the vehicle used by the vigilante operatives was shattered. Many people have been rushed to the hospitals,” the source said.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, is yet to react on the incident as at the time of filling this report.
