Still on Benue killings

It is so pathetic and sad to say that a country like Nigeria, which should flow with milk and honey, or a country where peace and unity should be the order of the day, is not really what it should be. Our national anthem says, “One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.”

Now since the beginning of the year 2018, Nigeria has recorded several killings carried out by Fulani herdsmen and when the killings just began, many Nigerians saw the President’s reaction as lackadaisical. We are all aware of the accident that happened to Yusuf Buhari sometime ago, in which President and his advisers took quick actions, people saw the actions as favouritism because he failed to attend quickly to the situation of the killings in Benue State, not until recent time.

Also, a scenario happened during President Buhari’s visit to Benue State to mourn with families of the victims who were recently killed; Nigerians felt that he should have demonstrated that care when the victims were alive. I use this medium to appeal to the Federal Government to make continuous efforts to stop violence in Nigeria by punishing the perpetrators of these evil acts. Also, security personnel should be designated to specific areas of the state to prevent a repeat of this violence.
