Sport tourism: Amokachi, Adepoju laud Adron Games fiesta

In its continuous determination to promote coexistence among its staffers across Nigeria, the Adron Group sports tourism fiesta, tagged, ‘Adron Games,’ has unveiled the official logo of the games with Ibadan as the host city for its 2024 edition.

With the theme, ‘Fit To Be The Biggest,’ the iconic sport tourism event is more than just a competition as it a pack of socio-cultural blend event that promotes unity, wellness and rewards excellence.

Adron Games, which will feature different pitch sporting events, will rally participation from across Nigeria with eight teams representing each station of the Adron Games to compete for the trophy at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, from November 29 to 30.

The Adron Games aims to foster a healthy balance between work, play and personal growth, promoting discipline, resilience and a relentless drive to succeed. This year’s edition promises to be the best yet, with a focus on excellence, inclusivity and competitiveness.

Also, one unique aspect of the year’s fiesta is that the organisers are bringing in a cultural blend to it to strategically promote unity in diversity.

In his remarks, a former Nigeria football star, Daniel Amokachi aka the Bull, thanked the Chairman of Adron Group for picking him out of thousands of football icons to be one of the ambassadors of the Adron Games.

He added that the group has shown great support for sports as a uniting force to promote coexistence among staff and to create more awareness for sports sponsorships.

Amokachi said the sports fiesta avails the staff the opportunity to showcase their talent to foreign bodies scouting for talents in Nigeria and an opportunity to make more money as well as have a life outside the job.

He said: “Adron Games has become a replica of the National Sports Festival in Nigeria and you have been doing it for seven editions and if not for COVID-19, it would have been more than that. I encourage you to keep on with the good job while we keep on pressing for more sponsors.”

Another Nigerian football star, Mutiu Adepoju aka Head Master, who is also an ambassador for the 2024 Adron Games, thanked the chairman of Adron Group for the laudable initiative, saying it is one of the things corporate organisations should be doing. He said Adron has been doing so over the years and it has proved that sports unites and makes one fit.

Adepoju said: “I can see how united all the Adron family have been with the games becoming a rallying point for the organisation which is commendable and I will say without doubt, Adron is the biggest.”

At the unveiling of the Adron Games 2024 in Ibadan, recently, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, the Chairman/CEO of Adron Group, who was represented by Mrs Adenike Ajobo, the Managing Director of the Group, said: “This event has become more than just a sports competition; it has become a symbol of unity, wellness and excellence – principles that lie at the heart of everything we do at Adron Group.”

Emmanuelking also extended a warm welcome to the special guests, Daniel Amokachi and Mutiu Adepoju, whose contributions to Nigerian sports continue to inspire generations.

He emphasised the significance of their presence and the occasion, highlighting the celebration of not just competition, but camaraderie, hardwork and the pursuit of greatness.

The Adron Games have always been a platform that fosters a healthy balance between work, play and personal growth.

Ajobo stressed that the worlds of business and sports demand similar attributes such as discipline, resilience and a relentless drive to succeed, adding that the promotion of physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle is seen as nurturing core attributes that lead to success in every field of endeavour.

This year’s edition promises to be the best yet, reflecting the commitment to excellence held dear in Adron Group.

Ajobo expressed confidence that the event will inspire athletes and viewers alike to pursue their goals with passion and determination.

The CEO also emphasised that the Adron Games celebrates the human spirit’s resilience and ability to overcome challenges, regardless of whether one is a seasoned athlete or a first-time participant.

Emmanuelking extended gratitude to all partners, sponsors and the team behind the scenes who made the event possible and encouraged athletes to compete with integrity, push their limits and embrace the values of sportsmanship, teamwork and excellence.
