The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-West region has raised the alarm over the abduction of its Ekiti Chairman, Paul Omotosho, at the weekend by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
Expressing worries over the development, the National Vice Chairman (Southwest) of APC, Hon. Isaacs Kekemeke, urged security agencies to do everything possible to bring back the Ekiti APC Chairman to his family and the APC.
In a press statement issued by Kekemeke’s office and made available to newsmen, Kekemeke said it disheartening that the dastardly act of abducting men for ransom has now become the order of the day.
We condemn this unholy act against our Ekiti State Chairman, our hearts are with him, and we call for his immediate release while security agents should do everything humanly possible to rescue him unhurt.
“This is an unacceptable development in our zone, we pray for his safe return to enable Hon Paul Omotosho to continue to provide good leadership for our party in Ekiti State.
“We solidarise with the good people of Ekiti State especially our party faithful and His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji over this sad and unfortunate development in one of the most peaceful states in the country,” Kekemeke said.
Kekemeke called on security agencies to redouble their efforts to secure the release of Omotosho unhurt.
It will be recalled that Omotosho was attacked and abducted while driving along the Agbado Ekiti-Imesi Ekiti Road las Saturday Saturday.
The Publicity Secretary of the APC in Ekiti, Segun Dipe, who confirmed the development, said the chairman was abducted while driving on the road.
“The chairman was driving in a Venza car along the road when the bandit shot at one of the tyres of the car.
“He was taken into a Toyota Hilux van and driven off. He was alone in the car when the incident happened, according to the information we have”
