Sokoto LG poll: Peaceful process in Tambuwal local government

The 2021 local government election in Sokoto State is reportedly going on peacefully across the 23 local governments area of the state.

Our correspondent who monitored the process at Tambuwal local government discovered that the process is currently going on peacefully as of the time of writing this report.

The election which started early enough was, however, marred with low turnout in most polling units visited in the state.

Some resident of the state who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity disclosed that the low turnout was a result of the non-participation of some political parties in the election.

Recalled that the major opposition party in the state, All Progressive Congress (APC) together with about twenty-eight others pulled out of the election citing non-confidence in the composition of the electoral body.

This decision however left the ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and about nine other political parties in the state on the ballot paper.

Meanwhile, analyst, however, believes the decision of the APC has made the election more or less a one contest with more or less a walkover for the candidates of the PDP in the election.
