THE Seyi Makinde Liberation Group (SMLG) was, on Tuesday, inaugurated in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The group, under the coordination of Honourable Demola Omotoso, a two-term Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, is “an initiative poised to freight and deliver the goodies of Seyi Makinde’s administration’s content and character, defined by ingenuity, innovativeness, modernity, transparency, accountability, service, welfarism and human face to the people at the grassroots.”
The gesture, Omotoso said, was in “tandem with philanthropic and welfare gestures our group shares with the governor in our bids to touch lives, empower and mobilise political participation.”
According to Omotoso, the group will embark on regular meetings, sensitisation programmes, open debates and dialogue, public lectures, free vocational training and empowerment to alleviate poverty among members and the masses.

Present at the event were Honourable Olufemi Josiah, Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Issues; Alhaji Hammadu Muritala, Special Adviser to the Governor on Arewa; former Chairman, Ibadan North Local Government, Alhaji Omilabu Ghandi; Honourable Kazeem Oshoniyi and Mr Adedamola Adebayo, among others.
