‘Show Jonathan how to do it now’ — Netizens dig out Tinubu’s old tweet on insecurity

Nigerians have dug up an old tweet by President Bola Tinubu, posted during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, amid the ongoing killings in Plateau and Benue states.

In the tweet posted on January 29, 2014, Tinubu criticised Jonathan’s handling of insecurity, especially the killing of Christian worshippers.

He wrote: “The slaughtering of Christian worshippers is strongly condemnable. It calls to question the competence of Jonathan to protect Nigerians.”

Now, with similar killings happening during his own time in office, Nigerians are asking him to lead by example.

However, Nigerians are using the tweet to question how well Tinubu is handling the same issues he once criticised.

@KayMandla reacted, “Here you are now, as the President, seemingly indifferent to the ongoing rise in the killings of Nigerian citizens. The people should be allowed to arm themselves for self-defense, especially considering your government’s failure to address this issue effectively.”

“Hello. I’m from the future, the account behind this tweet is now the president  and Christians are still being killed in their numbers. The difference is that you can’t criticize or condemn if not the government or it’s party supporters will come for you.,” @Queenestherose tweeted.
