She wants divorce ’cos she now has money and her level has changed —Husband

Published by

A couple, Kemi Oyeniyi and Olusola Oyeniyi, recently appeared before Oja Oba/ Mapo Court C Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Kemi, who brought a divorce suit against her husband, alleged that he constantly stood against her progress.

The plaintiff added that the defendant was a flirt. According to her, he squandered all the money she sent to him for the upkeep of their children and the home, on women.

Kemi further stated that her husband was diabolic.

She explained that he planted a broom in her body through diabolic means in order to afflict and kill her.

According to her, she would have been a dead person by now but for provindence.

Olusola gave her consent to divorce.

He denied  all that his wife said, saying she was a “pathological liar.”

The defendant stated that the plaintiff deserted him after she returned from abroad because her status had changed.

Kemi in her testimony said  “Olusola is wicked. He feels threatened any time I have an opportunity of making progress. He will strongly oppose me. I missed so many opportunities to work in Saudi Arabia because my husband refused that I travel.

“He knew I was going to have more exposure and be financially enhanced and was not happy with these.

“The last time such an opportunitycame my way again, I begged, cajoled and appealed to his senses before he agreed that I went.

“My lord, unknown to me, my husband had a plan to terminate my life.

“He put a broomstick which he had laced with charm on the path which I normally take. I saw him at the spot that very day, but I thought nothing of it.

“I passed over the broomstick not knowing he had inflicted me.

“It was my pastor who later revealed this to me when I went to him for prayers.

“He told me my husband has planted a charm in my body and that I should plead with him to remove it.

“My lord, Olusola denied it when I confronted him. It took a lot of prayers and many deliverance sessions before I was set free.

“My lord, Olusola went randy after I got to Saudi Arabia. He started dating different women whom he slept with in our home and on our bed.

“My children and relatives sent me video recordings of my husband’s romance with these ladies who were mostly of his children’s age. He was even kissing some of them in the presence of our children.

“My husband also attempted to sleep with my younger sisters.

“I worked round the clock so that I could send enough money home to make him and our children comfortable, but he squandered all these on his girlfriends.

“He refused to pay our children’s school fees and they were sent out of school.

“My lord, on returning, I discovered there was nothing to show that I was sending money home on regular basis.

“He carried out no maintenance work on our home while our children’s appearance showed they lacked attention and care”, the plaintiff explained.

The defendant agreed to the divorce, but denied all the allegations leveled against him.

Olusola in his evidence said, “Kemi is a pathological liar. She cooked up all those lies to curry the court’s favour.

“My wife deserted me immediately she returned from Saudi Arabia because she felt she now has more money than I do and that her level haschanged.

“It is true that she sent me some money, but I made judicious use of it,” the defendant concluded.

Delivering judgment, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunade observed that the love between the two has waned.

Ruling, he pronounced their wedlock dissolved.

According to him, this was necessary in the interest of peace.

Odunade granted custody of the first two children, to the defendant and the last to the plaintiff.

He ordered the defendant to pay N5,000 for the last child’s monthly upkeep and be responsible for his education and health care.
