Senior citizens laud Itire-Ikate boss’ initiatives, cash gifts

Senior citizens, including retirees and vulnerable elderly residents of Itire-Ikate LCDA, have praised the Executive Chairman of the district, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira, for his proactive efforts to alleviate the impact of recent economic challenges on the elderly.

At a community outreach event organized by the council chair, the elderly acknowledged the positive measures taken by the Apatira-led administration to improve their quality of life.

Dr. Apatira commended the senior citizens for their contributions to national development, emphasizing that their experiences are invaluable for delivering democratic benefits to the electorate. He stated, “I rely on the wise counsel and wealth of experience of our older citizens to effectively fulfill our mandate. It is important to note that our administration requires the collective participation of every resident.”

He further assured that his administration will continue to prioritize the interests and welfare of senior citizens. “Neglecting the wisdom and participation of older persons can hinder societal progress and prosperity. Therefore, we have established mechanisms to address the needs of our older generation.”

Dr. Apatira also urged families, particularly children, to support their elderly parents, emphasizing that old age is a time for reciprocation. “We should reward our older parents for their investment and labor by ensuring their happiness and providing timely support.”

During the outreach, cash and other gifts were distributed to beneficiaries, including retired teachers, market vendors, community leaders, artisans, and former service members.

Additionally, Dr. Apatira extended congratulations to Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council and a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, on being honored with an honorary doctorate in Literature (History, Education, and Community Development) from Lagos State University (LASU).

He described this honor as a testament to Olusi’s commitment to community and human development, as well as his positive impact across various sectors.
