SENATOR Shuaib Afolabi Salisu representing Ogun Central Senatorial District will deliver the keynote address at the 2024 annual national reunion conference of the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA).

The event, scheduled for Saturday, 18 May, 2024, will take place at Oduduwa Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

A statement by the chairman of the planning committee, Alhaji Mohammed Buari, and the Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Shamsudeen Adenopo, said Salisu would speak on ‘Changing Nigeria’s Consumption-based Economy to a Service and Production-based Economy’.

According to the statement, the three-day conference that will run from Friday, 17 May, to Sunday, 19 May, will feature an array of activities aimed at fostering intellectual discourse, networking and community engagement.

The event, which will be hosted by the vice chancellor of OAU, Professor Adebayo Bamire, and chaired by the Managing Director of CRC Credit Bureau Limited, Dr Ahmed Popoola, will be graced by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II.

Others expected at the reunion include Professor Yusuf Ali (SAN); the vice chancellors of the University of Ilorin, Summit University, Offa, and Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN), Professor Musa Aibinu and Professor Akeem Lasisi respectively.

The conference, the statement said, would kick off on Friday, 17 May with a networking dinner to be hosted by the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of UNIFEMGA and Pro-Chancellor of Summit University, Offa, Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti, after a courtesy call on the vice chancellor of the institution and a “special” Juma’at service.

“Other slated events include the ‘UNIFEMGA Investors’ Forum’, modelled after the popular TV show ‘Dragons’ Den’, offering entrepreneurs a platform to pitch their businesses to potential investors.

“The reunion activities will also include the commissioning of UNIFEMGA national secretariat, a welcome reception for all delegates, the presentation of scholarship grants, keep-fit exercises and novelty matches,” the statement said.

Reflecting on the significance of this reunion, UNIFEMGA National President, Alhaji Abdulfattah Olanlege, noted its alignment with the conclusion of his tenure and expressed optimism for the incoming executive.

“With over 300 delegates, including those from the Diaspora, already registered, the 2024 National reunion conference promises to be a gathering of minds committed to progress and unity,” the statement added.
