Senate asks FG to return displaced Nigerians in Benin Republic to their communities

The Senate, on Wednesday, asked the Federal Government to ensure that its relevant agencies ensure the return of Nigerians who now live as refugees in the Benin Republic.

The resolution was a sequel to a motion moved by Senator representing Ogun West, Tolu Odebiyi, who brought to the attention of the Senate the dehumanising conditions under which people in his senatorial districts displaced from their Communities by suspected Fulanis herdsmen now live in a neighbouring country.

He said: “The affected communities displaced in Yelwa area by suspected herdsmen, many of them
now live in the Benin Republic as refugees.”
