Senate adjourns plenary for two weeks

The Senate has adjourned plenary for two weeks to enable her committees to interface with Ministries department and agencies (MDA) who will be appearing before them to defend their respective budget proposals.

Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, in his ruling on Tuesday said the Senate was adjourned to October 29, 2019, for the Senate committees to work on the budget urging all ministries, departments and agencies of government to avail themselves for the two weeks period.

He said the budget defence period will last for two weeks period and all business on the budget will be considered by the committee during the period.

He reiterates the stands of the senate that there will be no other opportunity for them to be attended to by the Senate.

“This will be a two weeks exercise, All MDAs should take the opportunity to come forward to the national assembly to defend their budget within these two weeks, this is the only window available,” Lawan said.
