Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to unveil iconic projects with the ground-breaking of the New Massey Street Children’s Hospital, billed to be the biggest in Africa, as he marks his administration’s second year anniversary in office as from Tuesday, April 27.
Governor Sanwo-Olu will also commission other projects in the Health, Education, Transportation, Housing and other sectors.
The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, made the disclosure, in a statement made available to newsmen while reeling out programmes lined up for the Sanwo-Olu’s second year’s anniversary in office.
According to Omotoso, the series of activities, which will feature mid-term report, will begin with media briefings by Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government (MDAs) rendering accounts of their achievements in the past two years as well as media interviews and interaction of key members of the State Executive Council, including the deputy governor, Dr Kadir Obafemi Hamzat, saying such was packaged to unveil how far Governor Sanwo-Olu had gone in his journey to “A Greater Lagos.”
“This is the main question that will be answered as the administration marks its second year anniversary as from Tuesday, April 27.
“Mr Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat mounted the saddle on May 29, 2019. A series of activities have been put together to showcase the administration’s performance and impact on Lagosians,” the commissioner said.
“The mid-term report will begin with briefings by Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government rendering accounts of their achievements in the past two years.
“Events of the second-year anniversary include media interviews and interaction of key members of the Lagos State Executive Council, including Dr Hamzat, the media and various segments of society.
“Mr Governor will unveil iconic projects in the Health, Education, Transportation, Housing and other sectors, besides the various infrastructure projects that have been completed during his tenure.
“The ground-breaking of the New Massey Street Children’s hospital, which is billed to be the biggest in Africa, will be performed by Mr Governor. New schools and housing units will be commissioned,” he added.
Omotoso said the activities would not be all about what had been achieved by the administration under Sanwo-Olu within the period, as the governor would be offering Lagosians a glimpse into the future, which he often refers to as #A Greater Lagos by unveiling new projects, which the administration will build to make life more comfortable for the citizenry.
This was just as he listed some of the projects already completed by Sanwo-Olu since he took over office to include commissioning of the Tedi-Muwo Road and Link Bridge at the Lagos-Ogun State boundary that cuts across Alimoso and Agbado-Oke Odo; the 1.4km dual carriage Pen Cinema Bridge, among others.
