Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday pledged government’s support for the upcoming 6th Summit being put together by the State Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ALARHOSPS) in ensuring good governance and ease of doing business in a conducive environment for Lagosians.
Governor Sanwo-Olu gave this pledge while receiving at the Lagos House, Ikeja, members of the association led by its president, Mr Ajibola Olagbaye, on a courtesy visit.
The governor, who commended the senior citizens for their contributions to the development of the state in ensuring an energetic and dynamic public service, described Lagos as a cynosure and centrepiece every Nigerian looked up to.
Sanwo-Olu, while pledging support for the 6th summit, which is scheduled to hold in October this year, said the state government would be excited to receive the communique that would be coming out of the exercise, which would be beneficial to the state.
“About your 6th summit, we would certainly look at it, we would support you. We would be excited to receive the communique that would be coming out from there,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.
Earlier, ALARHOSPS president, Olagbaye hinted that they were in Lagos House to seek government’s support on their Bi-annual Summit, among others, even as he pleaded for review of pensions in the state, every five years as prescribed in the constitution.
According to Olagbaye, the summit would hold in October based on final approval by the state government, saying the theme is: ‘Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy’ with focus on transportation, security and ICT.
ALARHOSPS president, who disclosed that some recommendations from past summits were being implemented by the state government, expressed the belief that the government would also find the outcome of coming summit very useful as well.
