Sanwo-Olu pays condolence visit to Johnson’s family

Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, paid a condolence visit to the Ilupeju residence of the first military governor of the state, Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson (rtd), who died on Wednesday.

Sanwo-Olu, who was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Mr Tayo Ayinde; Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola and an All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Prince Bayo Osiyemi, arrived at the Johnsons’ at 6:19 p.m.

None of the immediate family members of the deceased was around during the visit but the governor was received by two elderly women, Mrs Shola Agaga-Williams and Mrs Biola Agaga-Williams, said to be cousins to Johnson’s wife, Obafunmilayo, who died a few years ago.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in separate telephone conversations, spoke to Seyi and Deji, two sons of the deceased, to sympathise with the family.

There were members of the extended family at Johnson’s residence when the governor called.

Sanwo-Olu, in a tribute, described the former military governor as a perfect officer and a gentleman.

“Papa served Lagos State diligently and conscientiously, laying a solid foundation that our dear state is thriving on. Lagosians remain indebted to Papa. His legacies outlive him. May his gentle soul rest in peace,” the governor wrote in the condolence register.
