Rotary club sensitises expectant mothers on Immunization, donates birth kits

Rotary Club of Ibadan Prestige, on Thursday, sensitises expectant mothers, an effort aimed at reducing infant and maternal mortality rate.

The event which was held at the Primary Health care Center, Ago Tappa, Mokola Ibadan, was equally aimed at creating awareness on the importance of immunization to pregnant women and their children.

The club as part of his gesture also distributed birth kits to pregnant women.

Speaking at the event the charter president of the club, Rotarian Folake Ladeinde, explained that the programme is aimed at reducing the maternal mortality rate.

While she also added that event was also organised in celebration of the Club month’s theme “maternal and child health.”

Adding that the birth kits were distributed to the expectant mothers to give support to the less privileged among the pregnant women.

Ladeinde, also noted that the programme is aimed at contributing to the health of mothers and their children

While the sensitisation was done by a Consultant Family Physician, University College Hospital, UCH, Dr Taiwo Soyinka.

Responding, Matron, primary health centre, Mokola, Mrs Bola Ogunseye, appreciate the club for the gesture, adding that the event will help in giving succour to the beneficiaries.

She lamented that the health centre had usually had cases of pregnant women going to labour without birth kits.

Also speaking, one of the beneficiaries, Bashirat Salami, appreciate the club for the items, adding that the items will go a long way in serving as a relief to her.
