Resist get-rich-quick syndrome, enrol for skills to better your lives, Cinematographer George advises youths

Published by

A popular cinematographer, Idjesa George popularly known as G Armani Concept has advised youths to desist from depending on prostitution, drug, and illegal migration as ways of making it out of poverty.

George while narrating his life experience explained the hurdles he scaled through to the tap saying, “Venturing into generator repairs, make-up outfit, and photography business, life has not been a roller coaster. I have strived to make it through thick and thin committing myself to different available opportunities.”

He continued that lost his mother shortly after he got a scholarship that got him just up to the Secondary school level, he added that he also got attached to a generator repairer where he learnt the skill. By 2008, he had learnt enough to set up shop where he reportedly sold generators and engaged on general repairs, which he styled G Armani technical store.

“Six years later, desirous of business expansion, I proceeded to learn the art of make-up. My eyes were set on the value chain. I bought a digital camera as those who often desire make-ups, were same as those who would want the “finishing” in a in a digital photograph.”

“At first, the photography was on a gratis basis, the photographs were taken and sent pro bono to fiends. I do it for fun and gifting began to attract attention.

“Two years later, a photography cum make-up studio was fully set up. Six years down the line, it was now a booming business such that his sister, Barbara Aduba encouraged him to out all his energies into the business as it could turn out as a business with returns.

Narrating further, George said the irony in all his story is that in July 2020, the new office at Ihama Road which he took time to set up, re-kitted and had a complete make over with new set of five digital cameras and make-up kits, was burgled. The loss totally by a simple calculation was over N8 million.

He confessed that he had to approach the bank for a loan to sustain a business since his other one has been taken away from him by burglars and that consistency led him back on track.
