Reps receive electoral act amendment bill

The House of Representatives, on Wednesday, finally received a report of the Committee on Electoral Matters on a bill to amend the Electoral Act.

The report was laid before the House by the Chairman of the Committee, Aisha Jibril Duku, at the plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Gbajabiamila had assured that the House would pass the bill before going for an annual break on Thursday.

Some alleged salient details of the report have been in the public space for over one week, forcing leadership of the House to insist it was yet to receive the Committee report.

No Evidence Arab League Sent Warning Message To FG On Biafra Movement

CLAIM: A Twitter user claims that the Arab League of Nations sent a warning message to the Nigerian government on the Biafra movement.

VERDICT: No evidence to ascertain the origin of the statement. The statement is not new as it has been in circulation since 2017.  Also, Nigeria is not part of the Arab League and there is no evidence that that league will make a statement about a non-member.

VERDICT: The information circulating on WhatsApp that the FCSC is now recruiting, via a certain link, is false. The website is found to be fraudulent.
