Reps member appoints blind constituent as special adviser on people living with disabilities

Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Anti-corruption, Hon. Dachung Bagos has appointed a visually-impaired constituent, Mr Chika Ali Ishaya, as Special Adviser on People Living With Disabilities (PLWD).

Hon. Bagos (PDP-Plateau), who announced the appointment when he paid a consolation visit to the family of Ishaya and also settled some of their bills after the loss of two of their triplets.

The lawmaker who represents Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency said: “This appointment is in line with my belief in the policy of inclusion, believing that we are all equal and nobody should be discriminated against on account of physical, religious, social or political background.

“To me, all human beings are equal and I treat all my constituents fairly and equitably.”

Bagosa added that by appointing Ishaya as a special adviser, he will coordinate activities of people living with disabilities in his constituency and ensure that adequate care is extended to them.

“As special adviser, Ishaya will coordinate activities of people living with disabilities in my constituency and I will use the channel to aggregate their needs and continue to cater for them,” he stated.

The blind Ishaya is a musician and a popular radio caller from the Gyel District of Jos south local government area of Plateau State.

The wife was recently delivered of a set of triplets but unfortunately, two of the babies died.
