The Niger State Police Command has said that the remaining 28 abducted victims of Kagara market attack in Rafi Local Government Area of the state have been released by the abductors unhurt.
Spokesman of the State Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, stated this on Thursday in a press statement made available to newsmen in Minna, the state capital.
It should be recalled that “on 28/09/2021 at about 1730hrs, suspected armed bandits attacked some villagers returning from Kagara market along Madaka road in which about 34 persons were abducted.
“On 05/01/2022 at about 1800hrs, the remaining twenty-eight (28) victims comprising of males and females in captivity were released and subsequently rescued as six (6) of the victims had already been rescued on 05/10/2021 and reunited with their families.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims who were kept at Kango forest via Dangulbi village, Maru LGA of Zamfara State were released at Kamfani-Doka in Birnin-Gwari area of Kaduna State as a result of the ongoing operational onslaught against the bandits/ terrorists at neighbouring States of Zamfara and Kaduna.”
It added that the victims were later taken to a nearby medical facility for medical attention before they will be reunited with their families.
