Ramadan: Soun sues for religious tolerance

Published by

Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III has called on Nigerians to embrace peace and unity across the country.

The monarch, while congratulating the Muslim Ummah on the commencement of Ramadan, called on the political class to make the welfare of the people, a top priority in their policy thrust.

In his Ramadan message, the traditional ruler called on traditional, religious and political leaders to use their positions to advocate love, fairness and accountability, adding that Muslims should use the holy month of Ramadan to pray for the country.

In a statement signed by his Private Secretary, Toyin Ajamu, Oba Oyewumi urged Muslims to embrace the teachings of the Holy Qur’an in their daily endeavours, saying: “As we commence the 2021 Ramadan, we give glory to Allah for the gift of life.

“The holy season should be dedicated to the service of Allah and mankind by embracing the virtues of Islam.

“The holy month of Ramadan has abundant blessings if the tenets of the month are strictly adhered to and as such, we must be selfless, patriotic, peaceful and kind-hearted to reap the benefits of the holy month.

“Let us use this period for sober reflection as individuals and as a people.”

The monarch prayed for a rewarding Ramadan with robust blessings.
