Ramadan: Lagos PDP tasks Nigerians to rededicate their lives to God

Published by

As faithful Muslims in Nigeria join their counterparts all over the world to observe the holy month of Ramadan, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has enjoined them all to see this as an opportunity to rededicate their lives to Almighty Allah, that has seen the country through all kinds of challenges.

The Holy month of Ramadan, which will commence on Thursday following the sighting of the moon, is a period during which all Muslims are expected to fast for 30 days and is part of the five pillars of Islam as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The party made the call on Wednesday in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Hon. Hakeem Amode, a copy of which was available to newsmen, expressing the belief that the month, which offered an opportunity “to be purified of all impurity and happiness, is what lies ahead,” should “be used to have a rethink and work towards a better nation, where both the leaders and the led would be guided by the teachings of the Holy Prophet.”

PDP, while wishing all a fruitful and rewarding month of Ramadan, admonished that this should not be just another exercise of fulfilling all righteousness, saying it should be “an opportunity for us to change our attitude to life for the better and bequeath a just society to the coming generations.”The party posited that n

nation-building was a job for all the citizens, noting that the recent events in the country, more especially the just concluded general elections, revealed that many of Nigerians were far from observing and practicing the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SWT).

According to PDP, the level of violence, intimidation, and harassment that characterised the elections are signs that Nigerians need to purify themselves, rededicate their “lives and imbibe righteousness during this period and beyond so that we can have a society that would be beneficial to all of us, where there would be peace, tranquility and progress.”

“May the Almighty Allah accept all our supplications during this Holy month and give us the nation of our dream. Ramadan Mubarak,” the party prayed.
