PVC: PDP cautions INEC officials against alleged hoarding

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) field officers not to pitch themselves against Nigerians with any action that could portray them as deliberately refusing to issue the PVCs to registered voters.

It has also urged Nigerians who are yet to collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) to take advantage of the extension of the deadline for collection by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to get their cards ahead of next Saturday’s crucial Presidential election.

A statement issued in Abuja on Friday by Kola Ologbondiyan National Publicity Secretary and Director, Media & Publicity PDP Presidential Campaign Organization, pointed out that the collection of the PVC is of utmost national importance to Nigerians, “in their quest to rescue our nation from President Muhammadu Buhari’s incompetent, divisive, vengeful and corrupt administration, which has wrecked our national life and brought so much pain and anguish to Nigerians.”

The statement said that the caution to INEC field officers is predicated on allegations in the public space that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has compromised some field officers to deliberately refuse to issue the PVCs, having realized that Nigerians are eager to get the cards to vote out President Buhari from office.

It added: “Nigerians are so eager for the election that anything that appears to be in the way of their aspiration to elect a new President could lead to unpalatable reactions with very dire consequences.”

The PDP, therefore, counselled INEC officials charged with the responsibility of distributing the PVCs to conduct themselves in a manner that is not only neutral but also publicly seen to be neutral and transparent.

“Such INEC officers should note that Nigerians have become so politically aware that they could easily identify acts that tend to compromise the credibility of the electoral process,” the statement said.
