Protest rocks Federal University Lokoja over death of female student

Students of the Federal University Lokoja on Friday morning protested at the Adankolo campus over the death of a female student in a motor accident.

Tribune Online gathered that the accident occured at about 6 pm on Thursday evening when the 300 level female student by the name of Mary Jane, of the Geography department, was returning from Felele campus back town.

According to an eye witness, she was hit by a J5 motor along Felele road at about 6 pm on a commercial bike while returning from school after her lectures.

This is said to be the second death recorded from the same department.

Unfortunately, her death prompted the demonstration by the students on Friday morning, calling for urgent action from the management of the school.

The students appealed to the authority as a matter of urgency to construct speed bumps with aimed of minimizing recurring accidents on the highway.

They also call for adequate security in the school community to contain any form of crime and criminalities from those who may want to take advantage of the area.
