Dennis Idahosa was born on November 8, 1980, in Benin City, Edo.
He’s a Nigerian politician and member of the House of Representatives, first elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023 for a second term.
Idahosa earned a degree in sociology and a master’s in legislative studies in Canada and Nigeria, respectively.
Before joining politics, Idahosa worked in the private sector, specifically in health and allied sectors.
He was appointed as a commissioner of the Edo State Ministry of Investments, Public-Private Partnerships from 2014 to 2015 by Adams Oshiomhole’s administration. Idahosa also served as a member of the National Agency of the Great Green Wall in Abuja from March to November 2018.
Idahosa’s political career has been on the rise since his election to the House of Representatives. He defeated Omosede Igbinedion in the 2023 elections. Recently, he was declared the deputy governor-elect in the Edo gubernatorial elections, alongside governor-elect Monday Okpebholo.
Speaker Abbas congratulated Idahosa on his victory, noting that both the governor-elect and deputy governor-elect are serving members of the National Assembly. Governor Oyebanji also extended congratulations to Idahosa and Okpebholo, describing their victory as a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and a win for democracy.
