Problems with my pile

Published by

I have been able to manage my piles for the past one year with medications and diet. However, in the past few weeks, I have been getting constipated resulting in my Pile becoming swollen and more painful. A few days ago, the pile started bleeding. Kindly advise me on what to do. I am 50 years old.

A bleeding pile (hemorrhoid) is usually a sign of irritation or damage to the wall of the hemorrhoid. This should resolve on its own over time, but there are several things you can do at home to speed up the process and soothe any discomfort. These include; soaking your anal area in a few inches of warm water. For extra relief, you may add some Epsom salts to the water.  It is equally important to avoid getting constipated since this may lead to straining, an extra pressure on the pile. To avoid getting constipated, increase your intake of fiber through the consumption of fruits and vegetables as well as water. However, if there is no clear source of bleeding or if the bleeding doesn’t go away within a week, see your doctor. Experts note that many medical conditions, including cancer and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), can have similar symptoms with haemorrhoids.
