Pray for peace, development of Nigeria, Akinosun urges Muslims

A senatorial aspirant in Oyo South Senatorial District, Dr Fola Akinosun, has called on Muslims to use this period of Ramadan to pray for peace and the overall development of the country.

Dr Akinosun made the call at the third annual Ramadan lecture of the youth wing of Olohunsogo Central Mosque, Yemetu Oje Igosun, Ibadan.

The politician, who was the father of the day at the lecture, observed that Ramadan is a period of sober reflection, fervent prayers and spiritual rebirth which bring man close to the Creator, said it was imperative to use the opportunity to beseech Allah for peace and development of the country.

He urged the faithful to, even after the fasting period, continue to offer prayers for the nation as there is no other place Nigerians could call their home.

In his lecture entitled “Impact of Women in Family Development,” Sheikh Hassan Ola Adua, described women as the salt of the earth and as such, they play a major role in family development.

He said if a man aspires to be successful, he should, as a matter of necessity, find a good, supportive wife.

On the other hand, he contended that a devout Muslim woman should be married to somebody like her because such compatibility would produce good children.

While noting that people no longer do the needful in marriage as prescribed by Allah but get married for convenience, the Islamic scholar, counselled women to choose to be “slaves” in their matrimonial homes rather than “masters.”

He urged wives to make their husbands happy and be in peace by being patient with them. This, according to him, comes with great reward.

Ola Adua identified types of women that men should avoid getting married to. They include the dirty, the nag and aggressive, the proud, the pilferer, the unstable and the extravagant.

The high points of the event were reading from the holy Qu’ran and presentation of awards of excellence to some Muslim personalities for their contributions to the development of the mosque.

Earlier in his welcome address, the host, Amir Abdulmumeen Akinremi, expressed gratitude to all the invitees and the lecturers for honouring the invitation.

He specially thanked Dr Akinosun for his many supportive roles among which is the donation of plots of land and 1,000 blocks for the construction of a mosque at the School of Health Technology, Foreign Links Campus, Moro, Ile-Ife.

Donors at the occasion were Mr Ibrahim Adeyemi, Dr Akinosun, among others.

Those who graced the occasion included the chairman, Ibadan North Local Government Area, Honourable Adeniyi Adeagbo;  Honourable  Abolade Agbaje,  Honourable Buliaminu Solalu,  Chief Mukaila Balogun and Alhaja Fatimo Adewusi.
