Potholes take over Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway

Published by

Potholes have taken over the Sango Bus-Stop axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State, causing  traffic gridlock, which sometimes stretches from Sango Bus-Stop to Dalemo Bus-Stop.

When Community News visited the area recently, it was observed that the potholes have spread to Temidire Bus Stop and the Sango branch of the FirstBank of Nigeria Plc.

As a result of this, motorists from the Tollgate end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway heading towards Sango en-route Abeokuta  are subjected to untold hardship trying to navigate their way.

Also, a section of the road opposite the Tollgate Office of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has started caving in due to large potholes that are threatening to render that axis of the road impassable.

Community News learnt these potholes are the cause of chaotic traffic situation that is ever present at the Tollgate axis.

According to a motorist, Ibrahim Mahmud, it was high time government took responsibility of repairing the bad portions of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

“It is a Federal Government road; that is why nothing has been done to fix the bad portions by the Ogun State government.

“Although the Ogun State government has started repairing the Poultry Bus Stop end of  the bad portion of Sanjo-Ijoko Road, we need them to come over to Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, particularly in-front of FirstBank and opposite FRSC office.

“Driving along these areas has become a painful experience for commercial drivers like me and the amount I spend  to repair my vehicle is taking its toll on my finances,” Mahmud said.
