Cleric donates to widows, orphans in C’River

Published by

As part of activities to mark his birthday, Founder and General Overseer of Christ for the World Mission, Reverend Nicholas Eze, last weekend, put smiles on the faces of widows by presenting them with food items and cash.

The food items include bags of rice, cartons of tin tomatoes, bags of salt, seasonings, toiletries, detergents, vegetable oil and a cash donation of N200,000.

The widows were drawn from the 18 local government areas of Cross River State.

Presenting the items to the widows at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Women Affairs, Calabar, the state capital, Reverend Eze said he had made a covenant with God to celebrate his birthday, every July, with widows, orphans and the underprivileged in appreciation of God’s abundant blessings on him.

The cleric said God has elevated him beyond expectation since he arrived the state on January 8, 1973, adding that when God blesses a man, he should touch the lives of others.

He said the gesture was also intended  to complement the efforts of the state government.

The man of God told the beneficiaries that the items distributed to them were aimed at reducing their burden and admonished them to be prayerful in order to generate the faith that will become channels of God’s blessings for them.

Responding, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Stella Odey, commended the benefactor, noting that the gesture would in no small measure cushion the effects of the high cost of living.

She said that the governor is passionate about the welfare of widows, for which reason, he created a department of Widow Affairs to take charge of the welfare of widows in the state.

One of the widows, Rose Akpama, commended Reverend Eze for the gesture and prayed God to bless him abundantly.

The man of God also visited Uwanse motherless babies home where he donated food items and cash to the orphans.
