Poor educational system and UTME low marks

It is a fact that education is the best legacy that parents can give their children and in Nigeria, education is a sure means of survival; this is the major reason parents send their children to school to equip them for a better future.

But lack of resources, lack of conducive environment and good teachers in government schools are major challenges facing education yet government has decided to ignore this

This has led to long term neglect in public schools where students do not get the best in academics and are forced to learn in debilitated structures. So, students whose parents cannot afford private schools are forced to endure the lack of teachers and bad environment which invariably translates into lack of qualitative education.

This lack of qualitative education is part of the reasons responsible for mass failure at Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) because it can’t easily be manipulated. But are these students to be blamed? Government has not paid the right attention to education and students have also become very lazy and have lost values; they have embraced vices and unwholesome methods of passing examinations and have taken education for granted especially with the manner they run after material things.

This is why many of them are into internet fraud; they want to make money without working and do not concentrate on academic pursuit. This has been a main crisis in the Nigerian education sector.
