Police, local hunters rescue three kidnapped victims in Oyo

Published by

Three people abducted by some gunmen who stormed Ijebu-Ode/Ibadan Road in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Tuesday have been rescued by the Police and local hunters, Tribune Online authoritatively gathered.

A credible source informed our correspondent that some passengers in a Sienna car were on their way to a quarry site along the Ijebu-Ode/Ibadan Road when the gunmen blocked their vehicle.

But, the victims, who are quarry workers regained their freedom on Wednesday through the combined efforts of the men of Oyo State Police command, local hunters and vigilantes.

The security operatives, backed by local hunters and vigilantes were said to have stormed the kidnappers’ hideouts and rescued the victims.

Confirming the rescue operations to journalists in Ibadan, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Oyo State Police Command, Mr Adewale Osifeso said the victims have been rescued.

He explained that the concerted efforts of the police, local hunters and vigilantes culminated in the rescue of the victims, adding that efforts are already on to arrest the fleeing suspects.

Osifeso stated: Today 29/06/2021 at about 1100hrs, hoodlums numbering about ten (10) blocked Kulum Quarry Rd off Ibadan-Ijebu ode Road. During the process, three people were abducted from a Sienna Bus with Reg No: LUY 835KV. But, the victims have been rescued.”
