Police establish conspiracy over killing of Super TV boss, arrest more suspects

Published by

The police in Lagos State have established a “conspiracy” in the circumstances surrounding the killing of Super TV boss, Usifo Ataga.

The police in the state have also arrested more suspects in connection with the murder as the slain Utaga was said to be drugged before he was killed.

The arrest of the suspects followed the discovery of a conspiracy in the murder of the Super TV  boss in the course of investigations by the police.

The latest arrest might not be unconnected with the volte-face from the prime suspect in the murder, Chidinma Ojukwu, who had earlier confessed to the crime.

The Nigerian Tribune also gathered that the police in the course of their investigations also discovered that some men might have been drugged in the past by the prime suspect.

The 21-year-old suspect in a new video denied any involvement in the killing, claiming that she met the lifeless body of Ataga in the rented apartment when she came back from where she had gone to buy food and drugs.

The state Commissioner of police, Hakeem Odumosu, while speaking with newsmen on Wednesday at the state command headquarters, confirmed the arrest of more suspects in connection with the case.

He added that the police had established a conspiracy in the incident that led to the death.

CP Odumosu said, “We have been able to establish a case of conspiracy in the murder and more suspects have been arrested.”

The police boss, while speaking on the latest video which has attracted insinuations that the police were treating the suspect specially said, “The video is not a new video. It was recorded three days after she was arrested.”

The police boss also added that “Be rest assured that we are not sweeping the case under the carpet. If we had wanted to sweep it under the carpet, we would not have gone that far to arrest her. We know what we went through before we could arrest her.”

He added that “The fact that we allow journalists to interview her does not in any way jeopardise our investigations. These are part of the things that will be out in evidence when we are trying her.

“Whoever that is insinuating that we want to sweep the case under the carpet, maybe he or she does not know the workings of the police.”

The police boss also added that “the viral video has nothing to do with our investigations at all. It is not to give her any soft landing. There is no any soft landing for anybody who has committed offence outside what the law says.”

CP Odumosu assured that “I stand to be quoted. The police in Lagos will do everything under the ambit of the law on the case. I said earlier that all the leads that we have are being followed and all the information is being verified.

“It was only Chindinma that we arrested before but now we have other suspects which means that we are progressing.”
