The Kogi State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper, gun runner and recovered 2 Ak-47, Beretta pistol and 41 rounds of ammunition.
In a press release signed by the command public relations officer DSP William Aya and made available to Tribune Online, on Friday, in Lokoja, said its operatives attached to Anyigba Area Command while on a stop and search operation along Idah-Anyigba road arrested one Mohammed Bako with a bag suspected to contain prohibited items.
He said the suspect, Muhammed Bako, who hails from the Kotonkarfe area of the state was arrested, on Thursday, in a commercial vehicle with two 2 AK-47 rifles, 41 rounds of ammunition, and one locally-made Beretta pistol, 6.7 MM ammunition hidden in a sack.
According to Aya, the suspect has confessed to ownership of the arms and ammunition, stressing that investigation is being intensified.
He said the suspect will be arraigned in court on completion of the investigation.
He, therefore, assured members of the public of the determination of the command to work in synergy with other security agencies in the state to ensure adequate security of lives and property.
