Police allegedly kill electrician working at building site in Delta

An electrician working at a building site along Isah road Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South local government area of Delta State has been allegedly shot dead by the police.

Eye witness account said that officers attached to the Delta Hawks team, the new security outfit were last Friday chasing some boys suspected to be yahoo driving in a red colour Lexus car into the bush where the building site was located.

According to the account, on getting to the site, the policemen started to shoot sporadically and in the process, the young electrician, one Onochie Obicenyi, an indigene of Okpanam in Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state was hit on the head even as he was left in his pool of blood while the killers escaped.

The decomposing body of the electrician was discovered two days after and was later deposited at General hospital Ogwashi-Uku mortuary.

Tribune Online gathered that officials of the police team, however, arrested the alleged yahoo boys and others working at the site.

When contacted, on Wednesday, the state police public relations officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said the police were investigating the incident to unravel the culpability of the Delta Hawks team or otherwise.
