The Plateau State Police Command has apprehended a 63-year-old man for the defilement of two underage sisters and another four for raping a 28-year-old housewife in both Bokkos and Shendam local government areas of the state, respectively.
Addressing newsmen on Monday, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Okoro Julius Alawari, stated that one Lucky Luka of Mabel Village Butura Ward recently reported at the Bokkos Police Station that his two daughters, namely, one Retyit Licky, four-year-old, and one Loveth Nehemiah, eight-year-old, were playing in the house of one John Mahana, aged 63 years, of the same address.
He pointed out that the said John Mahanan deceived them and had unlawful carnal knowledge of the girls, adding that on receipt of the complaint, the suspect was immediately arrested by the DPO, S.P. Agu Oliver C., and his team.
The Commissioner of Police said both the suspect and the victims were taken to the Cottage Hospital for medical examination, where it was confirmed that the 4-year-old girl had an abrasion on her upper thigh and a blood-stained vulva with a turn hyphen, while there was proof of penetration in the 8-year-old.
Also, the Commissioner of Police further disclosed that four young men within the age bracket of 21 to 23 were equally arrested in the Shendam local government area of the state for criminal conspiracy, rape, and unlawful possession of firearms.
The Commissioner of Police stated that about two weeks ago, one Mohammed Usman Ango of Yelwa Shendam reported to the Shendam Police Station that four persons, namely, one Asamu Ibrahim, aged 21 years, and one Ali Hashimu, aged 23 years, both of Yelwa Shendam, Plateau State, and Wukari, Taraba State, armed with guns, conspired and invaded his house in Yelwa Shendam, ransacked the house, and not finding any valuables worth stealing, took his wife, one Hajara Mohammed, aged 28 years, took her to a nearby bush and raped her.
According to him, upon receipt of the report, detectives led by the DPO, CSP Danladi Ringjwat, swung into action and arrested the suspects together with two others, namely, Usman Yahaya, aged 22 years, and Idris Adamu, aged 22yrs both of Shendam and Kanke Local Government Areas, respectively.
He disclosed that exhibits recovered from the suspects include: one locally constructed AK47 rifle with five 7.62 mm live rounds; and one locally made pistol with three live rounds.
Said he: “In the course of interrogation, the suspects confessed to kidnapping a certain Igbo man in Enugu City about two weeks ago and collecting a ransom of N4,500,000.00. They further confessed to having committed the offense together with four others, namely, one Mabe and one Puri, surnames unknown, both males of Enugu State now on the run”.
CP Alawari said efforts are being made to arrest the fleeing suspects, adding that the case has been transferred to the State CID and the suspects will be charged in court on completion of the investigation.
