The arguments between these two phones makes, iPhone and androids, have been consistent for ages. Both phones offer a lot of great features and may basically seem the same, but choosing between the two mobile phone types depends on what features and specs are most important to you. This debate has been around for years; there were 3.2 billion global smartphone users in 2019 and the number is expected to become nearly four billion this year. Here are some of the comparisons to decide which is better between both phones.

Hardware

Apples make iPhone, so it has extremely tight control over how the software and hardware work together. On the other hand, Google offers the Android software to many phones makers, including Samsung, HTC, Motorola etc. Android phone varies in size, weight, features and quality. There are Android phones for every budget. However many opine that iPhones have overall higher quality.

If you are buying an iPhone, you just need to choose a model. Androids on the other hand, are produced by many companies, so you have to pick both a brand and a model.

OS Compatibility

Operating system is to make sure you always have the latest and greatest version of your phone. In these cases, some Android makers are slow to update their phones to the latest version of the Android OS, and sometimes don’t update their phones at all. The Apple’s support their older phones for their new OS. iOS11 which was released 2017 is fully supported with the iPhone5S, which was released four years ago.

Apps

Apple play store offers fewer apps than Google Play, but selection isn’t the most important factor. Apple control might seem too tight, it prevents situations like the one where a fake WhatsApp was downloaded one million times from Google Play before it was removed which is major potential security threat.

Google’s primary business model is built around collecting user data and selling that to advertisers (or letting advertisers use it to target ads to you). As such, Google needs access to your data and the ability to share it with other companies. Apple has increasingly moved functionality that uses personal or private data onto your iPhone and other devices, reducing how much of data that can leave your device and go to the cloud.

Cost

There are many Android phones that are cheap in the market, as for iPhones which are  costly in the market the lowest iPhone is $399. Android phones are built for many customers depending on budget. Some Androids are as costly as iPhones  with the likes of Samsung, Huawei and recently, Xiaomi, which are assumed to be android rivalries for iPhone.

Resale Value

iPhone keeps its worth than Android, and with smartphones being released so often, people tend to upgrade quickly. You want to be sure you can resell your old model for the most money to buy a new one. Normally, old iPhones fetch more money at resale than old Androids.

Intelligent Assistant

Google Assistant, the most intelligent assistance on Android, is very powerful. It uses everything Google knows about you and the world to make life easier.  For instance, if your Google calendar knows you set alarm for a particular time and the traffic is terrible, Google assistant can send you a notification telling you to leave early. Siri is Apple’s answer to Google Assistant for artificial intelligence. It’s improving with each new iOS release. It’s still limited to fairly simple tasks and doesn’t offer the advanced smarts of Google Assistant because it is also available on the iPhone.

Battery Life

Early iPhones need to recharge their batteries every day. More recent models can go days without a charge, though new versions of the operating system tend to cut battery life until they’re optimised in later releases. Android models, there are also some that offer ultra-high capacity batteries. If you don’t mind the extra bulk, and really need a long-lasting battery, Android can deliver a device that works much longer than an iPhone on a single charge.

The decision of whether to buy an iPhone or Android phone isn’t as simple as tallying up the winners of each category. Different categories count for different amounts to different people. Some people will value hardware choice more, while others will care more about battery life or mobile gaming. Both platforms offer are good choices for different people. You’ll need to decide what factors are most important to you and then choose the phone that best meets your needs.
