Pastor Adeboye says tweets in line with universal human rights •Our tweets target global audience in more than 5 continents —Deeper life

The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said that tweets from his official handle, @PastorEAAdeboye, are in line with universal human rights stipulated by the United Nations (UN).

Pastor Adeboye made the announcement on Twitter which has been banned in Nigeria by the Federal Government.

A tweet via @PastorEAAdeboye, on Monday, stated: “The Redeemed Christian Church of God is domiciled in more than 170 Nations & Territories. The tweets here are in accordance to Article 19 of the UN universal declaration of Human Rights.”

Recall that on Friday last week, the Federal Government put a ban on Twitter operations in Nigeria barely a day after the microblogging site deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s controversial tweet referencing the Nigerian civil war.

Thereafter, the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, on Saturday ordered the prosecution of Nigerians defying the government’s ban on Twitter without stating what law was being violated.

“We will invite journalists at the time of prosecution, and they will know which laws are used to prosecute. The point is Twitter has been banned. Anybody should not try to use Twitter,” he said.

Also, the General Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, has explained why the church will not obey President Muhammadu Buhari’s ban on Twitter usage. Kumuyi who defied the ban on Monday, said tweets shared on his page are targeted at a global audience in more than five continents and over 100 nations.  “In view of the Twitter ban in Nigeria, please note that the content shared on this handle is targeted at a global audience in more than 5 continents and over 100 Nations and we share the content from any of these locations,” he tweeted.
