Palmira, Lepacious Bose, others extol inner beauty at IBOR

Some celebrities have emphasised the need to extol the inherent beauty of the body more than its outward portrayal.

This is coming in spite of the senselisation and clamour for physical beauty and maintenance, a prevailing syndrome  of the entertainment industry.

The Chief Executive Officer, Inner Beauty Outward  Riddance (IBOR),  an outfit dedicated to the celebration of inner beauty in African women, and convener of the 5th edition IBOR, The Unfading Beauty annual event, Mrs. Adenike Owolabi, stressed the age long bias of defining beauty based on physical appearances instead of the inner riddance, describing its mercurial  value as “fading”.

Not disregard the need to maintain the body, she called on women to prioritise  moral virtues, inner strength and social impact as riddiating costumes more than makeup and beauty enhancement activities.

Also speaking at the event, comedienne Bose Ogunboye popularly known as Lepacious Bose, who shared the experience of her massive weight loss, said: “I think loving who you are inside is the most important thing I have learnt. Considering the journey I have been for a couple of years now and the challenges I have faced, I have come to realise the importance of being beautiful from within.

“When you are completely happy with yourself, with who you are, regardless of the situation, when you begin to pay attention to the beauty that is inside of you, you will begin to experience changes from the outside. I used to think it was all about the perfect body and the looks, but while I think they are important, I know now that true happiness comes from inside, from the acceptance of who you are.”

Defining beauty, budding gospel singer and quest minister, Palmira, said that “the inner beauty of a woman doesn’t entail the physical makeup. It is your purity, your kindness and virtuous attribute.

“These things make for unfading beauty because I believe a beautiful woman radiates light from inside. Everywhere she goes, she radiates kindness and virtue.”

Speaking about the use of  makeup she said, “Whether you use the best make-ups if you don’t have the beauty from the inside you are not complete.”

IBOR, according  Fajusigbe, the Project Manager, IBOR, “We look at women who are conscious about the girl child, who preach the good news about how a woman’s beauty and strength is inside of her not on her outside,” she said.

The event was compered by Woli Areole.
