THE Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), has said it would support Cedar Farmers’ Business School in its quest to ensure food security in the state.
Director-General, OYSADA, Dr Debo Akande, stated this during a two-day agribusiness seminar put together by Cedar Farmers’ Business School, in Ibadan.
Akande, who was represented by Dr Kunle Oyedele, stated that OYSADA was created purposely to give agriculture the right attention it deserves adding that some of the ways this could be achieved is to always give support to private organisations showing seriousness about promoting agricultural practice in the state.
He stated that the agency would be willing to support the business school whenever it is called upon to do so, stating that ensuring food security in the state is a collective effort.
Participants at the seminar were given tutelage on various opportunities that are abound in the agricultural value chain such as accessing loan from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other financial institutions.
Project Consultant, Dr Idowu Adewumi, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune on the sidelines of the seminar informed that:”What we discovered that most trainings such as this usually end in the classrooms.
“Agriculture is more than classroom settings, we have to visit their farms, get to know what they are doing, know what we can do to help. Today, the Oyo State Government has assured them of certain things that has to do with credit facilities and other benefits.”
If we do not visit their farms, we would not actually know what they need.”
