Oyo trains, inducts 5,000 new teachers, converted staff

CHAIRMAN, Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Oyo State, Mr Akinade Alamu has tasked the 5000 newly recruited teachers and 700 converted staff on the need to be more productive on the job so as to justify their engagement, especially by the Governor Seyi Makinde administration.

This charge was central in the various remarks of Alamu during the three days training and induction being organised by TESCOM across the different zones of the state.

Noting that the training was to ensure that the teachers are up to speed with demands of modern teaching, Alamu charged the newly recruited teachers to shun laziness, dishonesty, discrimination and religious bias.

Furthermore, he urged the newly recruited teachers to align with Makinde’s commitment to educational development in the state by being competent, hardworking and committed to their duties and ensure that examination malpractice is curbed in the state.

Speaking in similar fashion, the permanent secretary, TESCOM, Mrs Grace Olabisi urged the inductees to be committed to their job and collaborate with parents and guardians as valuable partners for optimum teaching and learning.

While assuring of the commitment of the state government to professional development of teachers, she urged the recruited teachers to also embrace technology in developing their knowledge and skills.

Olabisi also urged the inductees to dress smartly to work and not allow religion cause disparity in schools.

She also warned against bullying, hatred and negative disposition towards their fellow staff and students.

Speaking, chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Oyo State, Mr Samson Adedoyin, admonished the inductees to quickly adapt to the demands of the teaching profession and be keen on their professional development.
