The Onigboho of Igboholand, Oba John Oyetola Bolarinwa, has expressed positivity that with recent high-level security meeting among traditional rulers and state actors, the instances of kidnapping, killing and other forms of insecurity rocking Oke-Ogun, Ibarapa and other zones of the state will dwindle.
Oba Bolarinwa expressed this optimism when he paid a thank-you visit to the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, on Tuesday.
Though he failed to divulge specific actions agreed upon at the various high-powered meetings among the traditional rulers of the Oke-Ogun region, he asked residents of the state to rest assured that the issues of banditry, kidnapping and other crimes and criminalities will be a thing of the past.
He however noted the imperativeness for traditional rulers across the country to continue to collaborate to proffer ways to address issues of insecurity rocking the country.
“It is the duty of the traditional ruler to join hand together so that the nonsense we are facing in Nigeria is curbed. We have held series of meetings. Obas in Yoruba went to Ife to discuss the situation in the country at present and I believe that by the grace of God, sooner or later, the situation will go down.
“At Oke-Ogun area, we held a meeting at Okere’s palace about insecurity in Oyo state and Nigeria, as a whole. I can’t discuss the details here as this has to do with security.
The monarch explained that he was at the Olubadan’s palace to appreciate Oba Adetunji for his royal presence when he received a traditional beaded crown as Onigboho presented to him by Governor Seyi Makinde.
In his welcome remarks, the Olubadan appreciated the Onigboho’s act of gratitude, while praying for his long reign and peace in Igboho, Ibadan, Oyo State and Nigeria in general.
It would be recalled that Governor Makinde recently presented Onigboho of Igboholand with a traditional beaded crown.
Present at the event were the wife of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Olori Rasheedat Adetunji; the spokesperson of the Olubadan, Mr Adeola Oloko and others palace officials.
