Oyo State Youth Parliament partners House of Assembly corps members on agribusiness seminar

The Oyo State Youth Parliament has partnered with the Oyo State House of Assembly Corps to carry out an agribusiness seminar tailored towards understanding the basics of agribusiness and the various opportunities available in agriculture. 

The seminar which was targeted at youth corp members with the aim of enabling them settle for the best after their service year apart from white collar jobs featured seminars on Livestock Farming, Aquaculture, Crop Production and FundRaising Strategies.

In his opening address, the Speaker, Oyo State Youth Parliament, Israel Fawole expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the facilitators of the seminar, Alabi Olawale Augustine and Olaosebikan Oluwakemi, for putting the programme together. 

He noted that the seminar is perceived by the state as a prospect for grooming the future. While addressing the participant of the seminar, he spoke about the essentials of power in relation to acquiring knowledge. 

He then encouraged the corp members to utilise the knowledge they acquire at the seminar as this will help them succeed both in the farming and non-farming agricultural businesses.

In his lecture, the guest speaker on livestock farming, Dr Adedayo Sosina, enlightened the participants on the operations of a livestock farmer in the area of poultry and animal breeding and how to manage them. 

In the same vein, Dr Tolulope Adegbesan explored through practical examples the rudiments of Aqua-cultural farming, especially in the area of fish farming. 

Mr Kolawole Bamigbola also taught on the cassava and rice plantation processes, the factors that influence the processes and how to harness the opportunity it offers.

The event had in attendance the Chairman, House Committee on youth and sport, Honourable Olakunle the Don and Hon. Olasunkanmi Babatunde, Deputy Majority leader of the 9th Assembly who were both the Representative of the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly amongst other stakeholders in the Oyo State House of Assembly. In attendance also were some members of the Oyo State Youth Parliament which included the Deputy Speaker of the Youth Parliament, Honourable Temilade Oladiti, the Scribe of the House, Hon. Oluwaferanmi Ibitunde, Hon. Lekan Adekunle, Hon. Tobi Olatunji amongst others.
