Oyo SDP gets new executive

Published by

The national body of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Thursday inaugurated the 17-member Oyo State caretaker committee to run the affairs of the party for the next 90 days.

The inauguration was done by the vice-chairman, SDP South West, Honourable Gbade Falade at the K.S. Motel, Ibadan.

Speaking, Falade charged the committee discharged their duties and won more members to the party.

He said: “We are expecting this set of people. We are inaugurating today to form an embryo for a new SDP in Oyo State within 90 days they are to inform the national secretariat for a congress and if you look at the crop of men that are in the committee, one could see that they are politicians that could deliver on the mandate given to them.

“No party has everything it takes to be what it wants to be, the last #EndSARS protest shows the systemic failure that has been operating in this country and you don’t underestimate any small political party, SDP is positioning to take over the country come 2023.”

In his remark, the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ambassador Olugbenga Curtis said today’s inauguration marks a great milestone in the history of SDP in Oyo State, saying this is the beginning of the greater good things that will happen to the party in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

According to him, he said the committee will ensure that each local government has a befitting party secretariat as work would commence on the proposed digital registration of one million SDP membership in Oyo State.

“This is the beginning of a new era when the SDP will take its rightful forefront position among the committee of political parties in Oyo State and we are fully ready to participate in the forthcoming local government election scheduled for May 15 and we urged the electoral umpire Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) to conduct free, fair and credible election,” he said.
