Oyo judiciary to go on Easter recess April 2 to April 9

In accordance with the provisions of the High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2010, the Oyo Judiciary has announced that it will be going on Easter recess between April 2 to April 9, 2021.

Tribune Online reports that the break affects all the courts that fall within the state’s jurisdiction.

Making the announcement, the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Munta Ladipo Abimbola said hs is giving the order for the recess in line with provisions of the Civil Procedure Rules and all other laws enabling him to do so.

“In exercise of the powers conferred on me by Paragraph 4(b) of Order 45 of the High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2010 and by virtue of all other powers enabling in that behalf, I, Abimbola Munta Ladipo, Chief Judge of Oyo State, hereby appoint the period commencing from the 2nd day of April , 2021 and ending on the 9th day of April, 2021, both dates inclusive, as Easter Recess of the High Court of Justice, Oyo State of Nigeria,” the Chief Judge stated.

He, however, reiterated that some courts may hear civil actions during this period, reiterating that, “during this period, civil actions may be heard where such actions are urgent or a judge at the request of the parties concerned, agrees to hear such actions.”
